Being annoyed by Shinzo and Shishimaru, Kenichi enlists Hattori's help to escape from them. They disguise themselves as a man and go around town - with disastrous consequences.

Synopsis[]

Shinzo and Shishimaru are playing ball outside, when the ball they are playing with flies in through Kenichi's bedroom window. Kenichi is steamed, and when the two ask him to join in the game, Kenichi calls them childish and explains that he has no time for such games. Hattori notices that something is bothering his friend and asks him to tell him what the problem is. Kenichi tells him that he feels bored and would like to venture out into the world, disguised as a man. Hattori is taken aback by the announcement, but eventually relents.

Later, with Hattori serving as his legs, Kenichi, clad in khakis, coat and hat, takes a stroll round the block. Hattori worries that, as they have borrowed Mr Mitsuba's clothes, they will get into trouble. As they pass by Yumeko's house, Kenichi stops to watch her play the piano, but they are soon apprehended by a passing policeman. Kenichi, with Hattori's aid, escapes.

Soon, Kenichi and Hattori reach the urban areas of the town. They walk into a casino, where Kenichi accidentally ruins a Pinball machine. Fearing that they may get caught, Hattori suggests they go home. On their way, they drop into a bar and order an orange juice. Just then, Mr Mitsuba walks in, and Kenichi panics, spilling some of his juice on the tabletop. Mr Mitsuba notices this, and asks the 'man' if he is alright. Kenichi says yes and gives trouble at work as an excuse. Mr Mitsuba says that life is cruel, and that the bar is an office worker's place of solitude. Just as Kenichi is about to leave, they fall off their stool, exposing themselves. Kenichi hits his head and knocks himself out.

Back home, Kenichi's injuries are treated by a home-visiting doctor. As he rests, Hattori apologises to Mr Mitsuba, who says that he's not mad, and that he understands what happened, as children always seem to want to venture into the world and behave like grown-ups. He then says that he wishes he could be a child again, reversing the problem.
